Meow, hello there, my name is Katherine, but you can call me Kat; because I basically am a cat. Anyways, I am a 26-year-old, lifestyle blogger, with an INFP-T personality type, from the United States. I love fashion, the color pink, cats, dogs, and spending all my time on my computer. I'm often seen wearing cat ears headbands.

My Realistic Cleaning Schedule

Cleaning Schedule

If you've recently done a deep clean of your home, either for Spring cleaning or just because you felt extra motivated to clean, or maybe because you had to because you were about to have guests over for a holiday or family dinner, you're likely enjoying how satisfying having a clean home is. Seriously though, despite how unpleasant some tasks may be (I'll always despise dusting), you can't deny how satisfying it is to have everything clean and organized. So now the thing is, trying to keep up with it; because odds are you aren't going to want to spend your Saturdays going through that whole entire chore list again, some chores you probably don't even want to do every week, but you also don't want to just let your space go unmaintained. Especially considering the fact that some chores are even more unpleasant if you procrastinate on them for too long.

There are a few things I actually feel I may do more often than some people, but there are also some things I do (way) less often than others; mainly either because those tasks are a hassle to do on a daily or weekly basis, or because it's unnecessary to do them that often with my lifestyle, and in a relatively small household of three people (all adults), and a dog. So of course, you should build your cleaning schedule based on your lifestyle, your household, and your own needs and preferences; as well as what you feel you can easily keep up with.

My Realistic Cleaning Schedule

I have broken all of these cleaning tasks down by room (although some are all throughout the house), and by how often I strive to get them done; whether that's daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or yearly. I'll be honest, sometimes I wait a little bit longer to do certain tasks if they aren't really needed such as mopping the bathroom or hallway, and I also sometimes do others a bit more often when I feel the need to (or if I'm just feeling the motivation to clean).

Let me also just say that you don't have to do all of your weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or even yearly tasks on all the same day; unless you want to. As a matter of fact, it's not a bad idea to spread out certain tasks throughout the week so you're not stuck cleaning all Saturday or Sunday. Since that's just no fun!

Anyways, here's the rundown...

Home Cleaning Schedule

To summarize a bit, when it comes to relatively quick tasks (that often make a big difference) such as making the bed, wiping up messes in the kitchen to keep the ants away, cleaning up any messes I may have made while getting ready in the morning, and making sure everything I use during the day goes back where it belongs before it piles up and becomes a cluttered mess, etc; I try to just do them every day. Most of these things don't take that long, so it's no big deal to just get them done, well before they'd become an actual chore. And when it comes to super small tasks that would take less than two minutes, why not just do it and get it done and over with?!

There are a few relatively small tasks I mostly just do every other day though, and some that I will just do whenever they are needed; such as mopping up dog drool, since my dog has a tendency to slime up the kitchen floor pretty good when we give him treats (I don't know how many times I've either stepped or slipped in it). I also don't always do the dishes every day, because while we don't have a dishwasher, so all dishes are washed by hand, there's often not a whole lot to wash; as we don't cook large meals on a daily basis. I suppose only having a couple plates, a few pieces of silverware, and maybe a cup would make it go by even quicker, but I personally don't want to fill up the sink for less than ten dishes. Especially as it would take longer to fill the sink than it would to actually wash the dishes. That's all up to you and what you prefer though!

When it comes to tasks that may take a bit longer, or are just a little bit more of a hassle, I'll either do them weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or even yearly; as I deem appropriate. Some things I don't like to put off for too long such as cleaning the one bathroom in the house and clearing the spoiled food out of the fridge on trash day before it gets any nastier; as well as vacuuming and sweeping since dog hair can pile up fast, especially during seasonal changes. Then there are some things I only do bi-weekly because they're necessary to do often, but are a bit of a hassle such as dusting. There are also the things that I either just do once a month or even just once a year to really deep clean everything, even though those tasks are a bit time-consuming.

My Laundry - How Often I Wash Everything

I typically do my laundry every other Sunday, as I have enough of everything I need to get me through two weeks (probably more honestly, way more, haha), but I've also decided to include a little rundown of how often I toss everything into the laundry basket for it to be washed.

Laundry - How Often To Wash

Everyone has their own preferences when it comes to how often they wash certain things. I've seen a lot of bloggers say they only wash their comforters every few months or even just every 6 months; I could probably easily get away with that, especially with how many I have and how much of a hassle it is to wash all those blankets, but I just love the smell of freshly washed blankets. As a matter of fact, it actually helps me sleep. I also know some people just wash all their clothing after one wear, so they don't have to think about it or remember how many times they've worn that item already; which is cool too! It all depends on your lifestyle and your preferences.

Do you have a cleaning schedule of your own; whether you use it as a general guide or as a strict schedule? What are some of your least favorite chores to do? As I've said, mine is dusting, I despise and dread dusting, LMAO. On the contrary, are there any chores you actually find relaxing or satisfying? Personally, I find the process of folding and putting away my laundry quite satisfying; as I'm basically restocking my closet and dresser. Speaking of laundry, are there any items you don't wash? I personally don't wash "dry clean only" items as I can't be bothered to take them to the cleaners (there isn't one within my walking distance, especially if I'm carrying something), but I don't want to ruin them by putting them in the washer. And I hardly sweat or do anything potentially messy in these items anyways.

Anyway, I'd love to hear your thoughts, as well as any cleaning hacks you may have!
Thank you for reading, and I hope the rest of your day is wonderful!

    1. Thank you so much!! I love looking at infographics, so I had to try to make some! It's actually a pretty fun way to write a post actually! I may have to make them more often when I can! I'm thinking of making more Pinterest/Pinterest-friendly content too.

  2. Thanks for sharing this schedule. Sometimes it's easy to forget to clean one thing and having a schedule really helps. To be honest I've never washed my jackets but now I have an idea how often I should.
    Thanks for sharing

    1. You're welcome! It is easy to forget honestly (sometimes having reminders on your phone can also help with that). I never really thought to wash my jackets and winter wear either, but I noticed that they can get a little dirty over time. So I just wash them at the end of the season. :)
